Into the Tides
Darling, together we await the storm,
Open-hearted and expectant.
Absent of reluctance,
Offering our penance
From our place upon the shore.
Ocean, take from us your accepted due.
We withhold it from you no more.
We’d sail again, but what for?
This ship has long been moored.
No more journeys shall ensue.
Terror, we shall not sleep in your comfort,
Nor shall we abide in your room.
Though the waves proclaim our doom,
We have naught left to prove.
We stand despite your effort.
Darling, I shall ever stand by your arm.
Let come whatever tidal force
Or horror of any sort.
Though they cut our time short,
Together we face the storm.
