Cries of the Lonely
O’ the sorrows of the broken-hearted man!
What pain resides so deep in his soul!
What hope is seen by the eyes of the lonely?
What peace can be found amidst the maelstrom?
Surely there is no grace for a man such as this?
For what hand can reach the depths of his core?
O’ what riches he would give for a heart-beat!
What lengths he would go to for the sound of a pulse!
How far-removed he is from that flow of life
And how long-absent from the company of happiness!
O’ that he might feel completeness;
That he might shake off the shackles of loneliness
And once more wrap joy about his shoulders!
To once more bind love around his waste
And circle companionship between his fingers!
